An assessment is a detailed look at an individual’s strengths and weaknesses.

Through the use of standardized tests, informal tasks and observation, information is obtained about the individual’s cognitive, memory, language, attention, visual-spatial and motor skills.

The assessment also provides information on the individual’s academic skills such as reading, writing, spelling and math. There is also an opportunity to observe motivation, energy, learning style, frustration level and self-confidence.

The assessment itself is done over two mornings;

one session spent testing the psychological factors and the other one focusing on the academic skills.

Following the assessment, a third meeting is set to explain and discuss the test results.

A written report is also given to the client or the client’s caretakers following the appointments.

This report also contains recommendations for the teachers, parents as well as the client.

If you would like to schedule an assessment, phone us at (514)989-9360.

We will fill out an initial intake over the phone and send you a questionnaire to fill out.

If the assessment is for someone of school age, you will also be sent a questionnaire to be filled out by the teacher(s) most involved with the student.

Once everything is filled out, you should mail it back to us along with the deposit.

If you are applying for a bursary, we will send you an additional questionnaire to fill out.

This needs to be sent back along with a copy of the household’s most recent income tax filings and the corresponding notice of assessment.

You will be notified of the percentage that would be paid by the LAM bursary fund shortly after that.
