Barbara Bobrow, M.A.

Educational Psychology (McGill). Barbara is a learning disabilities specialist, a founding member of the Learning Associates of Montreal and its Coordinator of Professional Services. Since she evaluates students from kindergarten to university graduate level, she has extensive knowledge of how learning disabilities manifest themselves at different stages of life. For decades, Barbara has served as a consultant to many Jewish parochial schools, as well as very isolated school communities in the Cree, Inuit and Lower North Shore areas of Quebec, flying in small planes or helicopters and snowmobiling to these schools to help teachers and children. Besides giving many workshops and conferences, she has lectured and given courses at both McGill and Concordia.


Associates

Esther Cayouette, B. Ed.

(UQAM) learning specialist (orthopédagogue) for the French sector at The Learning Associates of Montreal, Esther completed her studies in academic and social adaptation in 2002. During her studies, she completed vocational training from the pre-k, elementary to high school levels in the following fields: individualized path for learning, intellectual deficiency and child psychiatry (Université Laval). She has since taught and provided help to elementary level students as an orthopédagogue. For the past five years, at The Learning Associates of Montreal, Esther has performed individual remediation in reading and writing for elementary and high-school level students as well as academic assessments. She has also travelled to Cree and Inuit communities to provide consultations and academic assessments. She oversees the academic material for the French sector at The Learning Associates.

Daisy Grinberg, Ph.D.

(McGill University), member of the OPQ, Daisy received her graduate training in School Psychology and Applied Child Psychology. Dr. Grinberg began conducting psycho-educational assessments of children, adolescents and adults at The Learning Associates of Montreal in 2001. At LAM she has also provided therapy to individuals with social emotional difficulties and learning disabilities. Prior to joining LAM, Dr. Grinberg worked with children at the Jewish General Hospital, the Montreal Children’s Hospital and Summit School. Other highlights of her work include having facilitated a parent support group in Kanesetake and assessing children at parochial schools. In addition, through CEGEP Marie-Victorin, she has taught a course on Learning Disabilities to Beth Jacob Seminary students. Recently, Dr. Grinberg has also worked directly in schools within the English Montreal School Board assessing students with an array of difficulties (e.g. autism, cognitive delays, and learning disabilities) and providing consultation to their teachers.

 

Effie Konstantinopoulos, M. Ed.

Educational Psychology (McGill). Effie has been the coordinator of Remediation Services at The Learning Associates of Montreal since 2002. She has also been providing services in various areas including reading comprehension, mathematics and study skills since 1999. Trained by the late Dr. Sybil Schwartz, renowned speech and language pathologist, she also provides remedial services in reading for children with learning disabilities. Effie evaluates the students’ academic needs either through diagnostic remediation or formal educational assessments. She has been the program coordinator for one of the Taylor Adolescent Programs (TAP) outreach projects and is now co-coordinator of The Learning Associates’ Outreach Program which provides services to outlying communities across Quebec. She also travels to these communities two or three times each year.

Martine Roy, B. Ed.

(Université de Montréal and Université du Québec à Montréal), orthopédagogue. Martine is the coordinator of School and Community Relations and of French Remediation Services at The Learning Associates of Montreal. She has worked as a teacher in schools for children with learning challenges and as an orthopédagogue to small groups of students. At the same time, she has worked in private centres, with children from pre-k to high school level by performing academic assessments and individual remediation. She also acts as French services consultant for The Learning Associates of Montreal with Cree and Inuit Community schools.

Dr. Hélène Cantin, M.Ps.

Hélène studied psychology at the Université de Montréal. Since September 2008, she has teamed up with the learning specialists at The Learning Associates of Montreal to provide French and bilingual psycho-educational assessments. She is also part of the team that visits outlying regions during the school year. She has worked in the public sector with children, adolescents and adults.
